The Fort Wainwright Directorate of Public Works-Environmental Division is once again seeking those interested in formation of a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) for ongoing environmental evaluation and investigation of the Gerstle River Test Site (GRTS). The Army acknowledges that although there was substantial feedback from the previous RAB solicitation in 2014, the number of responses was insufficient to justify formation of a RAB at the time (defined as a minimum of 20 responses requesting a RAB). As part of the RAB process, the Army is required to re-solicit every two years if a RAB has not been established.
The RAB is intended to improve public participation by involving the community in the restoration decision-making process. RAB members will serve voluntarily, without compensation, for a term set by the RAB (generally two years). Meetings will be held semi-annually in Delta Junction. RAB members will be asked to review and comment on technical documents related to the ongoing activities at the GRTS.
If you are interested in being part of the RAB, please write a brief statement regarding why you would like to be a member of the RAB and why you think you would be qualified to serve on the board. Be sure to include your current contact information. Additional information and application forms are also available at https://www.wainwright.army.mil/env/Restoration_News.html

A meeting to discuss the 2017 restoration activities and possible formation of a RAB at the GRTS is tentatively planned for April 2017.
