(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) – The Fairbanks International Airport Police and Fire Department is conducting live-fire training Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in accordance with FAA requirements under FAR 139.319 and State of Alaska Firefighter training requirements.
The live-fire training will begin at approximately 1 p.m. Large columns of black smoke may be observed rising from the fire training area on the south side of the airport. Area emergency services agencies will be notified prior to commencing the training and upon training cessation.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 239 airports, 10 ferries serving 35 communities, 5,600 miles of highway and 731 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.
