ADF&G Area Sport Fish Biologist Fronty Parker sent this picture taken at
Square Lake in Mosquito Flats near Tok. ADF&G is looking at lakes for
possible stocking work. The picture shows large copepods -- freshwater shrimp --
caught in a funnel trap. Since there were no naturally occurring fish in the
lake these invertebrates grow large and plentiful. The lake should be quite a
banquet for stocked Char or Rainbows.

Delta Boy Scouts traveled to Seward where they attended an
international Jamboree. There were about 3,000 scouts from all around the state
and Canada. Scouts toured Resurrection Bay with Kenai Fiords tours, went out on
the Coast guard vessel Mustang, climbed Mt. Marathon, did a trail service
project and of course toured Seward and the Sea Life Center which is turning out
to be Alaska's premier marine facility. Photo courtesy Fronty Parker
Nick's caption for this picture was, "Anybody need any
Caterpillar work done?" Kay's question was, "Is anybody else experiencing
an overabundance of caterpillars this year? We've killed or picked up over 100
in the last 3-4 days. They're eating our new little plants, like they're going
out of style. Anyone who wants to share any caterpillar info, can e-mail Kay at nickays@wildak.netPhoto courtesy Kay @ Nickay's Country Gardens.
