November 16, 2018
The following ice measurements were taken on November 7, 2018. Each measurement was taken about 100 yards out from each of the lake’s boat launch.
Quartz Lake – 7”
Birch Lake – 8.5”
Chena Lake – 6.5”
Cushman Lake – 9”
Harding Lake – no measurement taken – lake is still about 60% open.
Lake ice will continue to form, but slowly, due to the snow cover now on the ice. Always use extreme caution when traversing the ice. Remember that ice will be thinnest over flowing water, inlet and outlet areas, deeper areas, and areas of upwelling.
Cushman Lake was recently stocked with over 6,700 Chinook salmon catchables. This will be the last stocking of 2018. So, get out to any of the over 90 stocked lakes of the Tanana Valley and try your hand at ice fishing.
This report will be updated as new information is received.
Be safe and good fishing!
