We wish to thank all of those who attended our presentation “A Walk in the Parks Plus” on Friday night, 28 October in the Delta Public Library. We also greatly appreciate the many positive remarks said about the show afterward. For those who were unable to attend, we shared our experience of hiking 425 miles on the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails along the Sierra Nevada Mountains in central California. In this the centennial of the National Park Service, we traveled through Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia Parks and Devils Postpile Monument as well as several Wilderness Areas and National Forests. While in Sequoia we scaled Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the Lower 48. If curious about our hike, our journey is currently being featured on the Alaska Flour Company’s Facebook page.
In addition to the members of the audience, we give a great big thank you to the Library for hosting the event, the Delta Junction Trail Association for their help in setup and takedown as well as their work on area trails, and the Alaska Flour Company for providing refreshments as well as supplying us with shirts and barley cereal and couscous used on the hike.
