Fort Greely Public Affairs
Fort Greely PAO examined its contents and discovered the wallet contained a DA2, military identification card which was issued in 1971, and several pieces of Fort Greely related identification- a military driver’s license, Leave and Earnings statements, a meal card issued in 1972, and promotion orders – all belonging to one Charles R. Darby. Most importantly though, the wallet contained memories of home, photographs with hand written notes on the back. Mother, sister, nephews and nieces, all sent photos to their far away Alaskan soldier, expressing their love.
