Fort Greely, AK – As part of Military Saves Week 2016, scheduled for 22 – 27 February, Fort Greely is spreading the saving message, and urging the community to participate in Military Saves Week and take the Military Saves Pledge found at www.militarysaves.org/for-savers/savings-tools-and-resources/take-the-pledge.
According to the Fort Greely Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Detrice Mosby, “Saving money is about preparing for the future and Military Saves Week is a great opportunity to help service members and their families in our community set a Goal, Make a Plan, and Save Automatically,” said LTC Mosby.
To help people save more successfully and encourage more people to save, the Fort Greely Army Community Service Financial Readiness Program is encouraging Military Families, DoD Civilians and Retirees to take the Military Saves Pledge.
“I’m young and have many more years to prepare for retirement but I know if I can commit to save now, I’ll be better off down the road” said Jessica, a new civilian employee at the garrison and a fellow employee commented that “Military Saves helped me get my finances under control. Now I have enough money saved in case there’s an emergency and I need to get back to the lower 48”.
Military Saves Week is coordinated by America Saves and the Consumer Federation of America in partnership with the Department of Defense. The Week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.
