Though we skipped one year, this year’s Sullivan Roadhouse Annual Tea, held July 7, 2015, again, was a success. We would like to first to thank Yvonne Leavitt for spearheading the event. She gathered us ladies together and said, “We can do this!” And, we did! Thanks to all the volunteers.
The roadhouse and Nancy Williams greeted the ladies as they arrived to be seated at lace covered tables adorned with fresh garden flowers and pretty china place settings. Petite salmon, cucumber, and chicken salad sandwiches along with a variety of delicate sweets that delighted the palate were prepared by numerous volunteers: Lonnie Miller, Judy Bean, Yvonne Leavitt, Deborah Snyder, Shirley Wright, Terrie Crowson, Laurie Franks, Julie Gaaf, Carol Austin, Molly Jensen, Mary Lupo, Wilma Mitchel, Mimi Webb, Lucy Dunham, Addie Blum. Orange/cranberry scones graciously provided by the Whitestone kitchen. Thank you, Kathy Selvaggio. All of these were enjoyed while ladies sipped on their choice of teas served by our local cheerleaders: Kirsten Porter, Hannah Walker, and Eileen Pospisil. Thank you, Erin Dvorak, for coordinating their participation. Sirsha McPeek and DeeDee Webb were also helping to serve the tables.
We want to thank Libby Child as well for her donations to the roadhouse that were used to grace the tables. Rachelle Stebbins, thank you, for coordinating music and pianists whom with their talent provided an atmosphere for enjoyable conversation.
Door prizes and raffle drawing items were generously provided by Lou Ann Fett, Lisa Sturgis with Acacia Floral (also for being willing to sell the tickets again this year), IGA. Alaskan Steakhouse, Buffalo Center Drive-In, Delta Petro-Wash, Delta Building Supply, Beverage Cellar, IIona’s Nail Salon, Delta Dentist, Jack’s Liquor, Farmer’s Co-op, Granite View, The Smiling Moose, Mollie Jensen, Judy Bean, Yvonne Leavitt, Chamber of Commerce, Alaska Four Company, GVEA, Laurie Frank, Julie Gaaf, Interior Hardware, Deborah Snyder, Video Store, and Calico Cow.
Shirley Beck and Anne Geise…thank you ever so much helping us clean up afterwards.
Cindy Blake wants to especially thank Alaska Flour Company, IGA, Jack’s Liquor, and Video Unlimited for their donations.
If we forgot anyone, please forgive! A lot of effort was made to give the ladies of Delta Junction a couple hours of rest and enjoyment, and it would not have happened without everyone’s cooperation. Yvonne reported that we were able contribute $1,500 plus to the maintenance of the Sullivan Roadhouse with this year’s tea.
The question has been asked if we will do this again next year! We don’t have an answer, but Yvonne words I am sure will ring in our ears as we contemplate another event, “We can do this!”
On behalf of all…
