The Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center and the Fairbanks Area Pipefitters Training Program will conduct two, week-long welding programs for veterans and active-duty military and members of the National Guard and Reserves from June 15-19 and June 22-26.
“Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)” will provide participants with the basic knowledge and skills required to begin a career in the welding field. The course will include hands-on instruction in the use of state-of-the-art welding equipment, welding procedures for structural and pipe welding and oxy-fuel cutting and welding as related to the piping industry. Training will be provided by experienced welding instructors from
Fairbanks Area Pipefitters Training Program, at no cost to participants. Funding for the classes is provided by the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Travel and room and board will be provided for participants from outside the Fairbanks area.
Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on June 8th for the week of training starting June 15th and applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on June 15th for the training starting on June 22nd.
