HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – Residents in and around JBER may hear loud noises created by live-firing of small arms up to .50-caliber as the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division conducts a brigade-wide exercise May 5 – 16.
Residents should expect to hear noises intermittently, both day and night, throughout the scheduled training days as the unit conducts personnel, mounted and dismounted live-fire ranges. The areas most likely to be affected are Eagle River and Muldoon near Bulldog Trail ranges.
Training will be conducted within JBER’s training areas and in Donnelly Training Area near Fort Greely. The heaviest, loudest weapons – mortars and artillery – will be used at DTA. While most of the training was originally scheduled to take place at DTA, much of it was moved to JBER in order to save training funds.
The training further enhances readiness as the Spartan Brigade continues to be the Asia-Pacific commander’s Army Contingency Response Force.
