(Posted earlier on Thursday on Zoya’s Facebook page): Hello from Tanana, the Iditarod race has come to an end early for me in Tanana. I came into the checkpoint with frozen feet and hands after a 60 mile run through-40 temps. Couldn’t boot the dogs to leave for Ruby. The decision wasn’t easy but you have to do what is best for the dogs and if I can’t care for them because my hands are swollen and frostbit…. No more 1,000 mile races for this girl … we will stick to shorter race adventures in the near future. thank you to all who have loved and supported our racing and rescue endeavors. xoxox
