FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska – The 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division started loading tactical vehicles and equipment at Fort Wainwright onto train cars bound for Fort Irwin, California, and will continue loading equipment through next week.
The Stryker brigade is scheduled to conduct their capstone training exercise at the U.S. Army’s National Training Center at Fort Irwin in January and is beginning the logistical movements to facilitate the deployment.
The Soldiers of the Stryker Brigade are expected to be deployed throughout the month of January to California for the exercise and return to Interior Alaska in February.
For the next two weeks the senior leaders and staff members from the Stryker brigade will deploy to California as part of the National Training Center’s Leader Training Program. The program, which is lead by a team of highly experienced military coaches, is focused on preparing unit and staff leaders to successfully conduct the capstone exercise in January and gap any shortfalls in experience or training the brigade may have.
