NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Alaska-based artist Raymie Rushing in Sensorial Sensibilities. The exhibition begins on July 5, 2014 and run until July 25, 2014. The opening reception takes place on the evening of Thursday July 10, at 6-8pm.
About the Artist
Inspired by the words of Ansel Adams, the artistic life of Sedona, AZ and the rugged beauty of Alaska’s wilderness, photographer Raymie Rushing succeeds in capturing nature’s wondrous bounty. Her breathtaking digital prints portray a studied patience for showcasing what the world often reveals in just the blink of an eye. Whether through seascape or land, untamed beast or wild fauna, Raymie moves viewer, eye and soul to appreciate a pristine wilderness. She embraces abstract thinking, continually striving to discover unusual ways to present what she sees through the lens.
Unbridled by convention or static rules, Raymie seeks to coax out emotion and move viewers with a passion for what she has uncovered. “I feel photography is my art form of freedom, and that God gave me wings through the lens of a camera,” Raymie explains. Her compositions are concise, effortless and inspirational, capturing the spirit of each subject. It’s not surprising that she was recognized by the Smithsonian for photographs she took in Augsburg, Germany. In orchestrating lens and light, Raymie Rushing is indeed the consummate auteur.
