A fundraiser for the John Trigg Ester Library
Spring is no time for satin and lace!
The Tape and Tarp Ball is just the thing to shake away the snowy winter blues, so dance the night away to hot local music with the Skidmarks, featuring guitarist and vocalist Gary Westcott, formerly of The Glass Bead Game. Create your own ball attire from tarps, visqueen, or lots of duct tape and join the spectacle! You’ll have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes for your costume (bring your friends to stuff the ballot box: one $ = one vote)! You can bid on auction items or buy unique gifts—all in support of the John Trigg Ester Library.
The John Trigg Ester Library invites you to enjoy an evening of fun, music, dancing, and duct tape at its spring fundraiser, the Tape & Tarp Ball, to be held May 16, 9 pm at the Blue Loon, 2999 Parks Highway. This night of foot-stomping music features local rock-and-roll band The Skidmarks, along with a duct tape costume contest. Make your own ballroom attire from duct tape, visqueen, tarp, Ty-vek, rubber boots, or other suitably utilitarian and traditional Alaska materials, and join the spectacle! Awards are by People’s Choice (one dollar = one vote). Voting ends at midnight, followed by a short fashion show and presentation of prizes to the winners.
For more information or for contest rules call 687-6666 or visit the library website at www.esterlibrary.org or the library Facebook page.
The John Trigg Ester Library is a home-grown community library that provides a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment where community members can meet and share ideas and information. The Library strives to instill a love of reading and learning, to showcase Ester-area history and culture, and to provide resources that will enrich the whole community. The Library is raising funds to construct a new library building in downtown Ester. When completed, it will be the first public building in Alaska constructed to meet strict Passive House—nearly net-zero—energy efficiency standards.
