The Delta Imagination Library and The Delta Community Library joined together recently to present a Story Book workshop. The focus was to demonstrate to parents methods to enhance story time with their children. The children’s book Little Owl’s Night by Divya Srinivasan was read and worksheets were available. Twelve children and their parents attended this fun filled event.
It has been proven that children learn at a faster rate during their preschool years than later in life. The purpose of the Imagination Library is to give as many children ages 0 to 5) as possible access to books that are age appropriate. In doing so these children are provided learning opportunities at an early age.
The Delta Imagination Library has also teamed with Best Beginnings a state wide non-profit to promote early childhood development. More information on Best Beginnings can be obtained from their web site http://www.bestbeginningsalaska.org/ Their programs “Babies on TRACK” and “WORDS COUNT” target ages 0 to 2 years.
Locally the Delta Community Library has story time for babies and preschoolers. Little ones from birth to 3 years old are invited to Baby Laptime every Tuesday 11:00-11:30. Preschool Story Hour for ages 3 to 5 meets Wednesdays at 11:00.
Currently there are 205 children enrolled in the Imagination Library program in the Delta Fort Greely area. Enrollment forms are available at the Community Library or on line at http://deltaimaginationlibrary.org or by phoning Jessica Weber at 907-803-8118. You can also follow us on facebook.
