(Fairbanks, AK) – Whether you are looking to stay healthy or get healthy, the North Haven Health Fair is sure to have something for you. The event will be held on February 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Haven Community Center located at 4268 Neely Road on Fort Wainwright. Admission is free and active duty, military retirees, military families and civilians that have base access are welcome. The fair is presented in coordination with Alaska Health Fair.
Free screenings will be offered and include vision, hearing, glaucoma, blood pressure, and height, weight and BMI. Additionally, free health education classes will be presented covering a variety of topics that include Alzheimer’s, heart health, physical activity, cancer and nutrition, diabetes and kidney, and alternative health.
The health fair also will offer the following tests for a nominal fee:
Comprehensive Blood Tests(27 tests panel, includes CBC, CMP & Lipids), $45
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, $30
Prostate Specific Antigen, $25
Estimated Glucose Antigen, $25
Vitamin D Levels, $50
ABO/RH Blood Typing, $20
The comprehensive blood test requires a 10-12 hour fast; fasting is not recommended for diabetics, but the test still can be taken. Alaska Health Fair will accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard for payment. Health insurance payments are not accepted.
