Time to prepare your speeches
We will be holding our annual speech competition on 1 February 2014 at the Delta Library starting at 6PM.
The competition is open to all high school students. Students will be required to make an 8 – 10 minute speech on some aspect of the US Constitution with an emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen to the government. Students will be allowed to use notes.
The winner of our competition will receive a $500.00 scholarship.
2nd place will receive a $250.00 scholarship and 3rd place $100.00 scholarship.
The 1st place winner of our competition will be eligible to compete in further competitions with increasing scholarship monies, the next in Anchorage and then Nationals in April of 2014. The competition there will require an 8 to 10 minute speech without notes and a 3-5 minute speech on the required topics listed in a brochure that will be available to the competitors.
