A Berry Fair Time is the legend printed on the bright red tee shirt worn by John Warren as he went to work today.
The tee shirt was given to John by the manager/coordinator of the Salcha Country Fair, Mrs. Peggy Burns, following John’s performance on the stage Sunday.
John played his favorite Taylor guitar given to him as a birthday present by his family a few years ago, and entertained spectators with some selections by Jim Croce, Oasis, Peter, Paul and Mary and others. The wind seems to blow eternally across that stage, however, on Sunday it was less ferocious than when John played there two years ago, when the wind blew over his music stand and scattered the pages of his playbook!
John has recently returned from a week at “Boys State,” an annual education / experience in democracy and civics arranged by the American Legion in each state of the union. John, along with 25 other young men, appears in a graduation photograph on the front page of the Alaska Legionnaire, the Legion House Organ July/August 2013.
During the week at Lake Meier, officials were elected from amongst the citizen attendees, legislative bills introduced, refined, argued and voted, all leading to the”general election” on that Friday. Upon his return to Delta following graduation, John commented he learned a lot about the political process, and that it was a week well spent.
Now, it’s back to work for John until the Delta Fair and Music Festival, when he is scheduled to play again. Check your schedule for the times of his appearances.
Good going, John – we’re proud of you!
