To: Churches, Applicable Agencies, and Businesses,
The local GED office for Adult Learning Programs of Alaska here in Delta Junction is in need of office space. Presently, we are located in the City of Delta Junction’s public works building. The building will be razed and replaced with a new one come spring/summer of 2014. To prevent moving in the middle of the school year, we would like to secure a location prior to September of this year.
The GED program is financed through the State of Alaska with grant monies and is therefore has a limited supply. We have share office space with LEPC, and it has worked well. Adult Learning Programs of Alaska has no funds for renting space and is at the mercy of local agencies and businesses for their hospitality.
Space needed and preferred is two rooms along with access to a rest room. Two rooms are preferred, so a quiet atmosphere can be maintained for students’ testing away from conversations and phone calls. We have office equipment and some tables and would have need of Internet service and phone line.
I realize that in our economy, this is asking for a lot. Because it would be donated space, it can be written off for tax purposes. ALPA is a non-profit.
The program is extremely important for our area. We usually have anywhere from 10-20 students each year seeking their diplomas. Because we are close to a military installation, we have many who come from other states either as new students or students continuing their studies. If you think you can help, negotiate, or know of someone(s) who possibly could, please contact me.
