Visitation: Saturday, November 12,2011, 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm Memorial service at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Bigfork, MN. Full military honors will be accorded.
History: Godfrey was born and raised in Bigfork and Effie. During his lifetime he lived throughout the U.S. including Minnesota, Oregon, and his beloved Alaska. Godfrey was a lumberjack and woodsman who loved nature, animals and the woods. He loved his children and grandchildren. Godfrey’s had many unique talents and interests including; artist, poet, survivalist, wood carving, basket weaving, drawing, historian, writer, expert wood axe skills. Constant seeker of knowledge, storyteller, and he overcame much adversity. Godfrey was a WWII Veteran; served in the US Navy on a destroyer as a radar man, he survived active combat and ship bombs.
