Daniel Edward Lucas, 62, of Delta Junction, passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 26th 2011. Dan was born on January 15, 1949 in Klamath Falls Oregon.
Dan made Alaska his home in 1974 while serving as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1970-1979. Dan worked for the FFA, Kay Enterprises, and retired from Cold Region Test Center in 2003. He was a member of the Delta Presbyterian Faith Lutheran Church.
Dan was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved gold prospecting, fishing, and traveling Alaska’s country. He enjoyed floating on the river with friends and family, whether they caught any fish or not. He also loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish and prospect for gold. His quiet manner but quick wit was the best part about knowing him. He will be greatly missed by all.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Lucas Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Lucas of Delta Junction; daughter, Jennifer and Patrick Dugan of Annapolis, MD; grandchildren, Michael and Caitlyn Dugan of Annapolis, MD; mother, Marian Lucas, of Dorris, CA; sister, Roberta and Russ Criss of MacDole, CA.
